INDIA: Digvijay Singh's unisex collection gets inspired by magical characters


Using his favourite pure organic blends of natural banana, orange, flex and hemp fibres; DigVijay Singh for Bhusattva had a unisex collection in a discreet shade card of yellow, ink, brown, grey, ash and wax all tinted with herbal dyes. The inspirations were surprisingly magical characters like genies, pirates, magicians and warriors but the garments reflected a somewhat Zen like feel. The silhouettes were comfortable and casual.

Adding just five women’s wear which matched the look of the collection, DigVijay Singh had a constant style story of short or long wrap around tunics with rear tie-ups, pale colour blocking in the form of contrast pockets, patches or yokes and the asymmetric closures which were a favourite.

Interesting combinations were the white cotton satin shirt with black button and kora silk Patiala salwars, the grey tie-up shirt with black piping and twill tussar, brown tussar silk pleated kurta with slit sleeves and leaf print churidars and the wrap kurta with slim fit trousers. The garments were either teamed with skinny trousers, churidars or Patiala salwars, The women’s wear was more unisex with kora silk shirts, angarkha kurta and a kurta kaftan. The overall look was lean and structured with ample detailing to add some stylish dimensions to the garments.

The finale outfit a dusty brown piped kurta with an overlapping collar on popular Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade was a striking entry.With a blend of Indo-west silhouettes and style the DigVijay Singh for Bhusattva men’s wear line will be great summer wear that has a universal international appeal.
