INDIA: Ministry Invites Agencies to Evaluate TUFS

Government of India has launched Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) for Textile and Jute Industries w.e.f. 1.4.1999 for a period of 5 years which was subsequently extended up to 31.3.2007. The Scheme has now been extended w.e.f. 1.4.2007 till the end of Eleventh Five Year Plan in the modified form. Ministry of Textiles has desired that an outside agency may be appointed to evaluate the TUFS. The agencies which would like to undertake the evaluation of TUFS may submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Textile Commissioner, Govt. of
India who is the Chairman of the Committee by 27th November, 2008. A background paper on TUFS and broad Terms of Reference for evaluation which indicate the broad approach proposed to be adopted for evaluation is enclosed for reference.
