INDIA: Megamart launches its 3rd Outlet Centre in Bangalore

Megamart , a pioneer in value retailing and the retail arm of India’s largest integrated textile manufacturer and a leading branded apparel & retailer, Arvind Ltd has launched its 3rd ‘Megamart Outlet Centre’ in Bangalore, the first two being in Chennai and Pune.

The new look store located next to Deve Gowda petrol pump, Banashankari, will offer its customers a bigger and better value shopping experience. Spread across an area of 60,000 sq ft of retail space, the store will be home to over 200 top Indian and international brands and will delight customers with its proposition of ‘mega discounts’ this Diwali and through out the year.

Speaking on the launch, Mr. J. Suresh, CEO - Arvind Brands & Retail said, “With 60,000 sq ft, this will be our biggest store and will house the widest range of categories including men, women and kids wear, accessories, luggage, footwear, cosmetics, electronics. Soon we are also planning to have a food-court and even an entertainment zone at our store. With over 200 of the best brands on fabulous discounts, the new Megamart Outlet Centre is all set to be a complete delight for the trendy and value conscious Bangalore customers”.

The Bangalore Megamart Outlet Centre will house leading brands like Allen Solly, Adidas, Arrow, Citizen, Color Plus, Dockers, Titan, Giodorno, Indian Terrain, Lee, Levis, Louis Phillipe, Nike, Park Avenue, Reebok, Scullers, Van Heusen, Wrangler among several other international brands at unbelievable value prices and offers. The other features of the store include the mobile store, an electronics shop and value-added services like a kids play area, making the Megamart Outlet Centre a complete family store.

Megamart has also pioneered a very unique concept called ‘The Marketplace’. At the Marketplace the consumer is sure to find the best and cheapest deals in the city on some of the brands. So a customer knows exactly where to head when he is in the store.

The Megamart Outlet Centre at Banashankari will offer fantastic value across a range of categories and an international shopping experience. “The Megamart Outlet Centre is positioned as a shopping destination for the people of Bangaluru, offering mega brands & guaranteed mega savings,” said Mr. K. E. Venkatachalapathy, COO, Megamart.

To provide the best of service to customers, Megamart has also invested heavily in training the fashion assistants who will be manning these Outlet Centres.  These fashion assistants called the ‘Red Squad’ will help customers find the best deals and make the right choices. To set a whole new benchmark in the value retail space, Megamart has also put in place a very structured training program and incentive structure.

The store has been designed by JHP London in partnership with OrangeTip Designs from Bangalore. JHP had also designed the new identity of Megamart. Recently the Megamart Oulet Centre in Chennai won the ‘most outstanding signage in the country’ award from 3M”, added Mr. Venkatachalapathy.

Megamart has also made sizeable investments in information technology. It has recently partnered with Oracle Retail for an integrated scalable platform to manage its retail processes from supply chain to stores.  “This will help the company increase its inventory turns, improve its forecast accuracy, enable shorter replenishment lead times and overall improve its service levels,” added Mr. Suresh. With this Megamart also became the first value retailer in the country to invest in high-end IT solution when it adopted Oracle Retail, ’the best-in-class ERP solution’ to strengthen its IT backbone. Oracle Retail, is one of the world’s leading provider of enterprise applications to retailers worldwide and seven out of the top 10 global retailers run on this platform and 12 out of the 13 Fortune 100 companies that are retailers run Oracle Retail applications.

These solutions will help the company roll out stores faster and support its aggressive growth plans as it seeks to achieve leadership in fashion and value retailing in India. ‘Megamart plans to establish 500 small and large format stores across the country - out of which 20 to 25 will be Megamart Outlet Centres in top 20 cities - over the next 3 to 4 years at an investment of about US$ 100 million,’ said Mr. Suresh.

“Our Bangalore store will be one of the largest value malls in the city. Keeping in mind Bangalore’s value conscious and discerning consumers we are very happy to dedicate our third Outlet Centre to the people of Bangalore. We already have 23 Megamart stores (with an area of 2,000 to 4,000 sq ft) in Bangalore and 115 stores across the country,'' added Mr. Venkatachalapathy.  To kick off the launch, Megamart is also running fantastic festival offers across the week and other fabulous purchase based freebies like a free Cherokee watch, an attractive Ruggers travel bag and also a chance to win a Maruti Swift.
