USA: Greenhouse Design Unveils Revamped Web Site

Greenhouse Design has unveiled its new Web site with a customer-focused approach to browsing and shopping for fabrics. The new GreenhouseDesign.net features full-color photos of many popular fabrics in use in actual room settings.

The fresh look of our site is designed to be easier to use and more functional for the busy design professional. Our customers have a hectic schedule so we followed their advice on how to improve the shopping experience.

"The fresh look of our site is designed to be easier to use and more functional for the busy design professional," says President Mike Bivins. "Our customers have a hectic schedule so we followed their advice on how to improve the shopping experience."

The company's Web site is an industry leader known for its easily searchable database stocked with more than 10,000 fabrics and trims. An advanced search engine allows customers to hone in on specific colors, patterns or price points, and results are presented in an easy-to-read grid format. Additional search categories include item number, keyword and sample book. Fabric categories range from solids, stripes and plaids to contract and earth-friendly fabrics.

Visitors to the site will be able to access the latest inventory, frequent web-based sales and take advantage of its popular same-day shipping of fabric orders and quarter-yard samples.

The company also released four color books earlier this year featuring an earth-friendly fabrics produced by North Carolina manufacturer Valdese. This collection of fabrics is made using 100-percent recycled polyester warps.

To meet the earth-friendly criteria, the fabrics must meet several specifications including the use of environmentally safe and healthy materials, design for material reutilization (recycling and composting), the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency, efficient use of water, and maximum water quality associated with production and instituting strategies for social responsibility.

Valdese utilizes dyes that eliminate the need for acetic acid and their dying process minimizes pollutants and reduces water and energy consumption. They re-use hot water from dye baths to preheat new dye cycles and return it to the municipal system cleaner than it arrived.

Greenhouse Design is a leading provider of the newest and latest fabrics for cutting-edge designers. Based in High Point, N.C., the center of the home furnishings industry, the company specializes in decorative fabrics and personalized customer service.
