INDIA: Eastern Silk registers 55 pc growth in net profit in Q2 FY07

KOLKATA: The city based Eastern Silk Industries Limited having multifaceted textile business activities has reported 55.6 percent growth in net profit in the quarter ended September 30, company sources said here on October 10.

The profit stood at Rs 16.18 crore against Rs 10.40 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, while the top-line registered 25.52 percent rise to Rs 116.63 crore from Rs 92.92 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

The higher value addition and increasing share of machine-made fabrics in the company’s production has helped in increasing profit margins to 20.8 percent compared to 16.9 per cent in the second quarter of last year.

Eastern Silk has registered net profit of Rs 30.53 crore on net sales of Rs 229.59 crore in the six months which ended on September 30.
