NEW DELHI: Designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla known to do different things has presented a retrospective of their 20 years in fashion at the grand finale of the ongoing Wills Lifetsyle India Fashion Week 2006 here on April 07.
The designers’ creations were captured on the ramp with Shewta Bachchan sashaying down in a Swarovski-studded blouse and a white saree which serves as a better platform to present the collection through the ages to the audience and to the buyers and also to celebrate 20 years of the Abu-Sandeep association.
The collection featured their work since 1987, which started with the crushed look and finished with the 90’s chikankari, which has been their forte since the last 10 years.
A visibly nostalgic Shweta said, “I have been wearing their clothes ever since I was 14. In fact, I have grown up wearing their clothes and have also spent my summers working with them and knowing how these garments take shape.”
Further the duo was proud of this high-profile ‘model’, who agreed to walk the ramp for them after some cajoling. “I think it’s in her genes. She took to it, like a duck to water. While the audience was waiting outside Shweta was given instructions inside and she did a great job,” said Sandeep.
The designers further clarifying the solidarity with FDCI said that every one can organise a show, but there is a difference when we showcase Indian designers under one roof.
