USA: Apparel imports increased 12 per cent in September 2005

WASHINGTON: The volume of apparel imports into the US was 11.96 per cent higher during the nine months to September 2005 than for the corresponding period in 2004 while shipments to the US during the month of September were 7.93 per cent higher than for the same month last year, according to data from the US Department of Commerce.

China still remained top US supplier despite apparel market share fell in September. Embargoes on several important categories have added to the slowdown, as well as installing uncertainty amongst US buyers.
