SRI LANKA: Garment sector gets US Support

Even after the garment quota expires the United States will continue support to garment industry of Sri Lanka.

Jeffery Lunstead, United States (US) Ambassador in Sri Lanka assured his country’s continuous support to Sri Lanka garment industry even afte end of garment quota.

During a meeting with Minister of Labour Athauda Seneviratne, the Ambassador also noted that the US is prepared to continue supporting Sri Lanka, despite the quota ending because of the high standards in Sri Lankan garments.

“Sri Lanka will not lose even though other countries will suffer following the ending of the quota,” he said adding that the high standards prevailing in the manufacture of garments in Sri Lanka when compared with other Asian countries was the reason the US will continue extending their support.
