The Made Up Textile Association (MUTA) of Britain has altered its name to the Performance Textiles Association (PERTEXA).
The move, according to PERTEXA CEO Clive Moss, reflected the group's developing role in representing the interests of companies involved in the performance textiles industry.
"All those involved in the textiles industry know how much it has grown, both in the technology employed and in the range of applications to which textiles are now being put," Moss said.
"We felt that we wanted to maintain the reputation that the association has established over the years but inject a freshness with a new name and a new identity which better reflects the modern textile industry in which our members now operate."
Despite the change, PERTEXA will continue to represent all facets of the textile industry.
MUTA was first established in 1919.
