The exposition starts today and will run until December 11. The fashion show will also be held as part of the event.
The exposition would showcase handloom and handicrafts product of the region, disseminate information on State industries and various incentives offered by the governments.
Secretary General of the 'northeast exposition said in a ststement that "The purpose of this programme is to bring into focus the rich potential and opportunity available in the north eastern region for trade, commerce and tourism to prospective entrepreneurs in Kolkata which has been traditionally the gateway to the east and the north east”.
The resident representatives of north east Houses in Kolkata have for the first time come together under a banner of 'northeast exposition' to promote the interests of the states.
The exposition would have a 'state day' when the respective cultural troops would present and tourism potentials would be exhibited. A fashion show highlighting the handloom in contemporary style would be the attractions of the day, he said.
Saying that space in the stalls would be free of cost, Lyngdoh said there would be no entry fee for the visitors also.
