THE NETHERLANDS: Gucci Re-Enters In Philippines

With the opening of a new flagship store the major fashion label Gucci has re-entered the Philippines market after seven years.

Outgoing president and CEO Domenico De Sole, in Makati City for the store's official opening recently, said the re-launch was part of the company’s global growth strategy.

"We are very encouraged by the Philippine market," he said.

"We are not deterred by security concerns and political instability."

Since leaving the Philippines market in 1996, Gucci products have only been available in the country through the Rustans Department Stores chain.

The Netherlands-based company, however, has now struck a deal with Rustans subsidiary Stores Specialist to exclusively distribute Gucci products in a stand-alone store.

Products available at the store include shoes, scarves and small leather goods.
