ITALY: Subtle Dyeing, Structured Weaves From Brugnoli

Greater emphasis on the skills of the dyer set the mood for the latest fabric collection from the Italian house of Brugnoli.

"Our new season's shade card stresses brighter 'optical' white, metallic silvers and 'shot' shades which give the effect of the ever changing blues, greens and greys of the ocean," the company explains.

In cotton cloths the collection features more structured weaves, while with a special eye on the needs of the lingerie trade, jacquard and piquet constructions make a major comeback, as do crepe effects in both cotton and acetate nylon blends.

For the summer 2003 season Brugnoli has also been working with Hugo Boss to develop a series of fabrics exclusive to this label and destined for use in the Boss men's underwear and casual wear ranges.

Once again colour is seen as the key to a topical look in vivid brights such as scarlet, royal and emerald green.
