Other Designers:

Ashish N Soni

Ashish's signature lines are characterized by extreme simplicity, flawless lines, immaculate cuts and a perfect finish. His Spring/Summer '07collection revives the intellectual vitality of Viennese artists who shook off rampant Historicism. The eclectic mix of intricate laces and stones map out Schiele's austere expressionist terrain as Klimt's golden world of Art Nouveau is reflected in embellishments and tactile textures.

Ashish Soni showcased his ‘Back to the future’ Spring/ Summer 2007 collection on the second last day of the WIFW. Nokia Sirocco model’s unbelievable deconstructed garments and the stark black, white, and mélange grey colour tones inspired Ashish. He opened the show dimensionally with white voile with metallic pin embroidery for a multi gathered baby doll dress. The extra wide line not only worked well for garments but was also visible for sleeves, boleros, and skirts. The collection blossomed on garment detailing with rolled sleeves, random pleating, stencil sprayed details and tucking for skirts and boleros which gave the garments a new dimension. The eye catchers were pin tucked and pleated yoke dress, with Chinese collar, black cool wool draped intimidated Peter Pan collar dress, or the caplets that hung on to shoulders over white asymmetric shirts were memorable. Ashish’s Men’s wear specialty includes his jackets were simple offerings in cool wool. A black satin-collared tuxedo jacket, a double-collared single button jacket, and a black Chinese collared Nehru jacket were also special. The fabrics ranged from voile, viscose, silk taffeta, jacquard, jersey, canvas to cool wool.
