Lakme India Fashion Week 2003 :: Anjana Bhargav

Anjana started with designing for her friends. With a formal degree in Textile Designing and patter-n-cutting combined with an inherent sense of aesthetics, Anjana was encouraged by the overwhelming response she got. She established Studio A, a design studio in New Delhi. She launched her first collection at a fashion show in 1994 with Bina Ramani, one of lndia's leading designers and of the lndian fashion industry. This was soon followed by a solo fashion show An Indian Summer which was held at the prestigious UNESCO Hall in Paris. She has also participated in the fashion show Traditional Trends at Image Expo organized by the Government of Sharjah. Since then she has held various exhibitions in Bombay and Delhi.

The Anjana Bhargava label reflects silhouettes where each collection has an inspiration, with accessories on garments as her hallmark. She selects a theme and translates the theme into her designs. Her designs resurrect patterns and skills of ancient arts into the rhythm of modern life, keeping the accent always on wearability.

Anjana's creativity is not restricted to fashion alone, but extends to interior designing as well. She has to her credit projects as diverse as private homes and farmhouses to commercial establishments. Here again her designs reflect her creative yet practical approach.

Each collection by Anjana has an inspiration, with accessories on garments as her hallmark. Her designs resurrect patterns and skills of ancient arts and combine these with the rhythm of modern life. The accent is always on comfort, wearability and affordability.
