Theme: Modern Inter-Sexual Wanderers
Driving his creative Muse is the burning question each of us toys with: Will technological advancement eliminate the wonderful differences that make us unique individuals? Will the visual distinctions of individual identity and gender bow down to technological cloning? Are we losing our cultural heritage? Will plastic surgery take over the Divine Doctor? Can my heart transplanted in your body make me you, or you me? Do we have any distinct identity any more? Going back to their experience of more than 15 years, Lalit Jalan presents a collection that crystal gazes into the future and holds all the answers that the present generation is searching for.
Here's a collection for modern inter-sexual wanderers. Working with natural fabric like cotton, silk and linen blended with the synthetic to make it relevant to the contemporary wearer, Jalan's latest silhouette adds deformation (????) to the normal line with special detailing and features such as gathers, pleats, tuck and layers.
The palette is pastels blending with neutrals, the rustic and the earthy, brought alive with surface development and ornamentation with embroidery merging with prints and dyes. Put together with beaded necklaces, bold bracelets, nose rings, gloves, masks and long bags, it throws open as many questions as it answers.
And he ought to know.
This is the collection of the thinking man. As Jalan underlines, "Fashion is just not experimenting with ideas but creation that is authentic and approachable."
