After graduating from Design school at SNDT University, Mumbai she began her career as a designer for womenswear at Shoppers Stop. In early 1996, she quit her job and launched her signature label at Ffolio in Bangalore.
Her label started getting noticed, and she began retailing at Melange and Ensemble in Mumbai and New Delhi. She launched her Menswear range in the year 1999 at a preview at Melange, which was noticed and sold out. This encouraged her to create a new menswear line for each successive season, and she has begun enjoying designing for men, far more than creating the womenswear ranges.
She has experimented with silhouettes, and loves the language of the bias. Clothes must enhance the personality of the wearer, and vice versa, and her collections are based on this dictum. She also consults as Head of Design to a studio of 6 designers at Shoppers' Stop.
Her work revolves around the basic principle of Minimalism and Wearability. The designer excels in creating interesting fabrics textures and designing luxury casuals or lounge wear.
Silhouettes form an important part of her designs which portray contemporary international trends. The wheeling spirit and an Urban Bohemian attitude is well depicted in the natural fabrics she uses.
