Priyadarshini Rao
Priyadarshini Rao is a fashion and textile design graduate. She has also obtained a six-month diploma in Jacket Making and Corsetry from the London College of Fashion Design, Islington.
She launched her line, called the Label, in India in the year 1997.
Both the men's and women's wear lines have been shown at various shows since then, including the fashion weeks held in the years 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. Her clothes are retailed at various stores like Be: and Shoppers' Stop.
Apart from these, the more exclusive lines retail at high-end stores like Kimaya (Mumbai, Delhi, Dubai), Fuel (Mumbai), Cinnamon (Bangalore), XLNC (Hyderabad) and Ensemble (Mumbai).
The Labels' philosophy is 'clean comfortable, yet somehow quirky fashion'. According to her. the ideal costumer is someone who believes in aesthetic, breathable fabric, and yet demands comfort and value for money.
Theme of the Collection: The Summer of 2007 is all about green foliage,dark woods and the pale blue skies. The elements of nature inspire a line of clothing that is flighty and yet very real.The essence of the line lies in the fact that a walk in the wilderness can indeed be an enriching moment. Trapeze dresses, Empire tunics, shifts, and blousons set the mood of the silhouettes.These are cut in fine voiles, muls, organzas, linens and light silks.The textures created with fine stitching, cutwork, pleats and reverse appliques reverbate the calmness of a waterbody. Everything echoes the woods. The feel of the garments is pared down and very somber.
