Nikasha Tawadey
Nikasha Tawadey set out to be a psychoanalyst, but her creative urges drew her towards fashion designing. Soon she was retailing her line at Selfridges. Her prêt label 'Nikasha' has become a favourite with the country's high fashion boutiques.
The young designer's line represents a bohemian mix, with a vintage and hippy flavour in bright prints and colours. Interplay of fabrics and prints in intriguing colours, interlaced with trimmings and embroidery gives the creation an unusual flavour.
Each piece, with its innovative and design-strong silhouettes, is meticulously styled. Nikasha's creations are an extension of her personality-bohemian, chic, glam!
Theme of the Collection: Nikasha S/S collection is influenced by the international fashion trends echoed in Calcutta of the 60`s and 70`s. The inspiration was the creative garments that merged eastern sensibilities with western designs. The Great Eastern Hotel was the venue where these fusion designs were modeled and often made style statements.
The collection symbolises a modern bohemia and feminine style, which oscillates between yesterday and today to create an edgy style.
