Narendra Kumar
Narendra Kumar Ahmed was part of the first-ever graduating class from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) New Delhi in 1990. This was followed by a two-year stint as designer for Ensemble and Tarun Tahiliani.
Narendra launched his signature label Narendra Kumar in 2002 with a complete range of western wear for men and women. In 2003, recognising the need for a premium mass market women's brand for India, Narendra launched his prêt label, Chai by Narendra Kumar, through a joint brand ownership venture with Banswara Syntex Ltd.
This year, in february 2006 Narendra is headed to the Autumn/Winter 2006-Düsseldorf from February 5-7 2006 in the CPD NEW DISCOVERY section at daily as displayed in individual stalls along with nearly 50 designer labels from around the world. Kumar was also recently invited to be a part of the Australia Fashion Week, where he received an encouraging response from the media and trade buyers.
Narendra retails from his flagship stores at Courtyard in Mumbai, Palace Hotel, Bangalore and The Galaxy Towers, Gurgaon. He has exclusive outlets in Dubai (Designer Lounge) LaD eDa (Virginia), Indigo in the Old City (Alabama) and in France - Red Space (Paris).
Theme of the Collection : WHEN LOVE TOUCHES YOU - The collection explores loving and longing in the context of modern city life shown through softer fabric. Hints of the hard edge are projected through the sharp tailoring and construction. Jackets, linen, silk, cotton, mull, georgettes and net make up this couture line.
