A few years ago, Lascelles Symons, now famously nicknamed Corset King, made the transition from model to designer.
Today, after an eventful, enriching, eight years, he retails in the most visited fashion stop-overs in Mumbai, has a firmly established export business with European buyers in particular, dresses several of our fashionistas and has plans to create an exclusive line of bags, a glimpse of which will be seen at the current fashion week.
His inimitable corset designs have featured in most fashion publications, in collections of other couturiers and have earned him kudos in the fashion fraternity. With his current sell-out collection, Aurum, he looks forward to treading new ground as a pręt designer.
Theme of the Collection: Lascelles Symons presents Aurum, an enchanting collection, inspired by the golden Grecian influences on fashion. The God, Goddess and Gladiator find their way into the Spring Summer `07 ‘Cocktail Pręt’ line which comprises of calculatedly draped and distressed, calf length dresses, tunics and tops adorned with Fleur de Lie detailing.
Free falling drapes, pleated-like skirts and latticed bodices are on display as the integral design on his garments. From bold ruby, jade, coral and turquoise to the more subdued citrine and pearl, Lascelles` line is a sheer trinket box of color. This time around, his famed corsets simply accessorise his elegant, very wearable, collection and complement the striking gold accessories and bags that add sparkle to the pre-dominantly jewel tones.
