Theme of the Collection: `How do we begin to covet, Clarice?` asks Hannibal Lecter chillingly in The Silence of the Lambs. He goes on to answer his own question `…we begin by coveting what we see everyday…And don`t your eyes seek out the things you want?`
For Chaitanya Rao, this bit of softly spoken dialogue provided the inspiration for his present work. `The clothes should speak for themselves,` he says. `Once seen, they should be coveted, desired.`
Chaitanya Rao`s Spring/Summer 2007 collection is a kaleidoscopic swirl of chiffons and georgettes in pale, muted tones with subtle detailing. His silhouettes are contemporary, with sleek, modern lines, and high waisted skirts and trousers. A must-see this year at the Lakme Fashion Week.
