Anupama Dayal
Launched by Anupama Dayal in 2004, "Anupamaa" is high fashion womens` wear.
Says Anupama: ` In essence, I interpret Indian textile traditions in my bold and modern signature style. My design philosophy is to achieve an international look with an Indian soul. Intense saturated colours where animals and birds motif mingle with florals and abstracts. I have often been told that my work is unique for its harmonious blend of nature, tradition and modernism. `
`My work presents hand blocked prints in an almost jewel like 'avtaar'. A single motif could have as many as eight colours . . . shaded, burnt out, antiquated to create a dazzling fabric rainbow. Current styles include slim jackets, flowing and pleated skirts, fitted shirts, dresses, corsets and more.`
Anupamaa is available at Melange, Ensemble, Ogaan, Ffolio, Evoluzione, as well as several luxury stores in Europe, Asia, South America and the Middle East.
Theme of the Collection: The Silken Tiger - Stories in Print. The tiger is not only a magnificent animal; it also represents our fabled country and beautiful textile crafts. We start in the Himalayan region with restrained colour palette golds, teals and dusky pinks. As we move into Central India, the colours explode . . . flame, blood red, green and purple. Inspiration comes from Indian nomadic tribes, with antique textiles, ribbons and lace used along with very modern prints. Every piece is a multi-textured mosaic. The real search is for the harmony and joy of Indian life.
