NIFT graduate Sayantan Sarkar has been making his presence felt steadily and surely on the Indian fashion scene since 2005. The designer combines contemporary silhouettes with traditional Indian embellishments.
Geometrical patterns, intricate textures, multiple layers and quirky motifs come together to create the distinctive Sayantan Sarkar label. Life being an all-round inspiration, his favourite muse remains the everyday man and the everyday woman.
His collections have featured at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2013, Lakme Fashion Week Spring Summer Resort Wear 2013, Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week Summer Showers 2013, India-International Jewellery Week since 2010, the Telegraph Marriage n Vogue since 2009 and Kolkata Fashion Week 2008 and 2009. The label caters to pręt as well as couture lines for men and women.
Retailing from his own studio at South Kolkata, the label has created a niche following with his quirky ready-to-wear as well as contemporary-styled trousseau for the new-age Indian brides-to-be. The studio also houses a wide range of Indo-Western clothing and Western wear.
