In order to match the expanded market, investments worth Rs.194,000 crores is likely to be made in the next five years to increase the output of the textile & apparel industry and in fact, the textiles & apparel industry is already beaming with opportunities and offering multiple career options to professionally qualified youngsters. Within the textiles & apparel industry, the apparel sector in particular, is seen as the engine for growth and the phenomenal growth of Indian apparel sector is likely to create 45 lakh new jobs alone out of the projected 60 lakh direct jobs to be created by 2012. However, in reality, there is a huge gap between demand and supply of trained personnel for apparel industry due to inadequate number of training/educational institutes to produce qualified professionals. Keeping this in view, NITRA, a centre of excellence is brazing itself for training the increased manpower needs of the textiles and especially apparel sector, following termination of quota restrictions. NITRA, setting benchmark in manpower training activities, strongly believes in imparting industry oriented curriculum that has led to the trainees performing par excellence in the industry. Today NITRA is synonymous for developing quality manpower for textiles & apparel sector and offers nine industry oriented techno-management programs in most happening areas such as textiles & apparel manufacturing, pattern making, quality control, finishing, merchandising, and machinery maintenance. In addition to regular programs, three tailor-made distance-learning programs are also offered to provide unique opportunity for working executives to upgrade their knowledge and skill and thereby excel in the career.
