GUNTUR: The AP Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (APIIDC) is planning to establish a Textile Park near Guntur for processing 35 lakh bales of cotton produced annually in the area.
APIIDC Chairman, Mr A Ramababu, said here on November 16 that they have identified two hundred acres of land for the purpose.
The facility, which would come up on the national Highway 5, about 15 km from Guntur, would provide fully developed plots for setting up cotton-based factories for processing, spinning, weaving and apparel-making, he said.
"We will create the infrastructure which includes roads, electricity, water and greenery," he added. He said cotton factories in Coimbatore and Erode in Tamil Nadu purchased the cotton produced in Andhra Pradesh in abundance.
